Hi all, I used the image for the lobed argiope in my initial post as it shows well the male, female, prey and web. You can see the images of all three argiopes in the link to the page at wildside holidays.
RockyFarmer…. I think Argiope aurantia (yellow garden spider) is distributed in the Americas. There are only three Argiopes in Iberia (Although never say never when it comes to whats where and when!)

Wasp spider – Argiope bruennichi – Araña tigre
Lobed Argiope – Argiope lobulado – Argiope lobata
Introduced and very similar to Argiope Aurantia
Banded garden spider or banded orb weaving spider – Argiope trifasciata
