Sadly, the Orca that recently beached and died in the Netherlands has turned out to be from an Iberian Pod. She was IB6 Gala (confirmed by photo identification). It is the second death this year for this population with only 50 individuals. Stay turn on Proyecto O.R.C.A social medias as they will publish soon more information and the photo identification catalogue of this endangered population.
A sobering reminder that wild orca faces some serious, life-threatening challenges out there. The female orca that stranded along the coast of Cadzand Netherlands yesterday and unfortunately perished on the beach after re-stranding twice, has arrived at the Veterinary Medical Center to undergo Necropsy at the University of Utrecht.
