This is an interesting interview covering the recent “attacks” on lambs by lynx in Extremadura… Farmers are getting subsidized 60 euros per lamb proven to have been killed by a lynx but their value is 100 euros.
The odd thing is that no one seems to have noticed the decline in rabbit population as the lynx grew in numbers. (and presumably mixamotosis as well?) Cmon guys its not rocket science? If the lynx has plenty of rabbits it wont hunt so many lambs.
Oh and maybe don’t use a hunting reserve for the major releas site? This area of Extremadura has the highest concentration of lynx in Iberia and its also famous for rabbit hunting!
