Its almost spring again in the Valle del Jerte!
Located in the extreme north-east of the province, the Valle del Jerte in Extremadura is bordered to the north by the provinces of Ávila and Salamanca, to the west by Valle del Ambroz, to the south by the city of Plasencia and to the east by La Vera. The area has become quite famous for the beauty of its cherry tree orchards in spring and for the Garganta de los Infiernos Nature Reserve.

I visited this area in springtime many years ago. Simply stunning! Thanks for reminding me about it Clive 🙂
The 2022 program for the cherry blossom festival is published on the Hoy website… https://www.hoy.es/prov-caceres/cerezo-flor-valle-jerte-fiesta-programa-actividades-2022-20220307110625-nt.html
Breathe and try to be nice to people 🙂

Thanks for reminding me too. Haven’t been there for a while. The great thing about the valley is that the farmers work as a cooperative, which helps get them a fairer/more consistent price for their Picota cherries and supports a more strategic long term view, where all farmers have more of a say.
It’s also worth visiting the valley in January and visit the village of Piornal for the Jarramplas Fiesta – I’ve been a few times – fantastic ( if you like throwing nabos and feeling that depth of time/cultural inheritance that some fiestas have) but dangerous too!
