I really believe that some projects, the funders and the scientists behind them should be booted back to primary school…. These guys have managed to raise 15 million to start a project to make hybrid elephants from woolly mammoth DNA and living Asian elephants….
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/sep/13/firm-bring-back-woolly-mammoth-from-extinction
“For instance, mammoths are proposed as a solution to help stop permafrost thaw because they will remove trees, trample and compact the ground and convert landscapes to grassland, which can help keep the ground cool. However, we know in the forested Arctic regions that trees and moss cover can be critical in protecting permafrost, so removing the trees and trampling the moss would be the last thing you’d want to do.”
Words fail me…
Breathe and try to be nice to people 🙂

And when they have done it… This is where they will be housed I suppose… Actually the text on the about page is quite informative and convincing in a way… I am sure lots of people will see the sense in it!

Of course after bringing the mammoth back we could bring back early man and neandertal and they could make the mammoth extinct again!

Actually, the science is quite sound and there is a good article here…. https://www.bigissue.com/news/environment/this-is-pleistocene-park-siberias-mammoth-scheme-to-cool-the-planet-and-save-us-all/
These guys have been working away for years with herds of large mammals and the results are quite interesting… the woolly mammoth plan is quite new but looks like it is also making progress forwards. Time will tell 🙂

This article at kickstarter is also quite informative about the project and its origins..

And here is the film with English subtitles….. It is very watchable….
Back to the Ice Age – The Zimov HypothesisA documentary by Denis Sneguirev
In Siberia Sergey Zimov and his son Nikita are attempting to slow down the melting of the permafrost, which holds huge carbon reserves, by reintroducing large mammals present in the area during the ice age. It is a mammoth project driven by the faith and convictions of a small group of adventurer-researchers.
