Well I think this belongs in the flower section, but it could also fit in the alien section?!
These were seen at around 2600m in the Sierra Nevada. There were lots popping out of the wet ground. They either started growing as soon as the snow was melting, or they were growing and were then were covered by the late snowfall we had and are now free of snow again. Absolutely no idea what these are, maybe bean sprouts haha.
Anyway hopefully someone will recognise what they are.

I think that the files you uploaded were just a bit big…. There is one image that downloads from your post.

That is so weird it should be easy to identify but I have no idea at all! 🙂 Maybe take some more photos as it grows?

Thanks Clive.
I know Miguel, you’d think this crazy plant would be so easy to identify! They are way up in the Sierra Nevada a long long walk from anywhere so I won’t be taking more pictures of it. Although I do plan on going up again in a few weeks or so, maybe they will be doing their thing still, or maybe this is it haha.
Here is another picture, blurred, more like a bean sprout.

What about something like Arum italica????? It looks like a flower stalk poking up from the centre.

I don’t think so Clive. I don’t think it would survive up there. I will no doubt be heading back up there at some point as it’s one of my favourite walks (never see anyone haha) we went a month earlier than usual (I go for the alpine flowers) so never seen these before. Also conditions have been mad this year so hey maybe they came over from Africa in the all the Saharan dust we had 😉
