Interesting topic on a facebook group recently about stripeless tree frogs in the Canary islands. (Lanzarote) They seem to be smaller and brown like this….
Read about them here: https://wildsideholidays.co.uk/stripeless-treefrog-hyla-meridionalis-ranita-meridional/

This is interesting because if on mainland Spain has two species why aren’t the ones on the Canary islands at least considered to be subspecies? is it just that they haven’t been studied further?

Researchgate has a project published about the color differences but for a different island (Alegranza) not Lanzarote. Its really about stripeless tree frogs having stripes though 🙂

Its not impossible to think that these frogs could make the journey by sea from one island to the other?
